Classic Gurka Recipe
Here’s how you can make this traditional Swedish delicacy:
- 2 large or 4 small cucumbers peeled and sliced thin
- 1 tsp. salt
- Freshly ground black pepper or 1/4 tsp. ground white pepper
- 1/4 – 1/3 cup sugar*
- 1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- A large bunch of fresh dill
Place the sliced cucumbers in a large bowl with a snug-fitting lid.
Sprinkle the cucumbers with salt, pepper, and sugar.
Pour the vinegar and water over the top.
Add fresh dill to the bowl.
Cover tightly and shake to combine.
Let the mixture marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight to develop flavors.
