Como Hacer Chicha Venezolana
The authenticity of chicha lies in its simplicity. To prepare it, a few essential ingredients are needed:
- 1 cup of rice the base of the drink
- 6 cups of water to cook the rice
- 1 cinnamon stick for flavor and aroma
- 1 cup of whole milk for creaminess
- 1 cup of condensed milk for sweetness
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for an aromatic touch
- Crushed ice to serve it cold
- Ground cinnamon for garnish
Cooking the Rice
Wash the rice well under running water until it runs clear.
In a large pot, place the rice, water, and cinnamon stick.
Cook over medium heat until the rice is very soft and the water has reduced.
Let it rest for 10 minutes and remove the cinnamon stick.
Blending and Mixing
In a blender, add the cooked rice along with whole milk and condensed milk.
Add the vanilla extract and blend until smooth.
Strain the mixture through a sieve or cheesecloth for a smoother texture.
Serving and Garnishing
Fill a glass halfway with crushed ice.
Pour in the chicha and drizzle with a bit of condensed milk.
Sprinkle with ground cinnamon for added flavor.
