Como Hacer Chicha Venezolana

The authenticity of chicha lies in its simplicity. To prepare it, a few essential ingredients are needed:

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup of rice the base of the drink
  • 6 cups of water to cook the rice
  • 1 cinnamon stick for flavor and aroma
  • 1 cup of whole milk for creaminess
  • 1 cup of condensed milk for sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for an aromatic touch
  • Crushed ice to serve it cold
  • Ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions
 

Cooking the Rice

  • Wash the rice well under running water until it runs clear.
  • In a large pot, place the rice, water, and cinnamon stick.
  • Cook over medium heat until the rice is very soft and the water has reduced.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes and remove the cinnamon stick.

Blending and Mixing

  • In a blender, add the cooked rice along with whole milk and condensed milk.
  • Add the vanilla extract and blend until smooth.
  • Strain the mixture through a sieve or cheesecloth for a smoother texture.

Serving and Garnishing

  • Fill a glass halfway with crushed ice.
  • Pour in the chicha and drizzle with a bit of condensed milk.
  • Sprinkle with ground cinnamon for added flavor.
  • Enjoy it well chilled.
