Deviled Scotch Eggs Recipe
Here’s what you’ll need to make this mouthwatering dish:
For the Scotch Eggs:
- 6 hard-boiled eggs
- 500 g sausage mince any type: pork, chicken, or plant-based
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 raw eggs beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs mixed with 1 tbsp Italian herb powder
- Oil for deep frying
For the Deviled Eggs Filling:
- Yolks from the boiled eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp hot sauce optional
- Paprika for garnish
- Chopped spring onions or chives for garnish
Step 1: Prepare the Scotch Eggs
Mix the sausage mince with paprika, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Divide the mixture into six portions. Flatten each portion into a patty.
Place a boiled egg in the center of each patty and wrap the sausage around it, shaping it evenly.
Dip each sausage-wrapped egg into the beaten eggs, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture until evenly coated.
Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the coated eggs for 6-8 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 2: Make the Deviled Egg Filling
Slice the fried Scotch eggs in half lengthwise. Carefully scoop out the yolks into a bowl.
Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, and hot sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Spoon the yolk mixture into a piping bag and fill each egg white cavity.
