Heat olive oil in a large pot. Sauté garlic and onions until softened.
Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes to caramelize.
Add crushed tomatoes, sugar, and dried herbs. Season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes.
Simmer uncovered for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Taste and adjust seasoning. Add fresh basil and Parmesan before serving.
