R&R BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cups Root Beer : Adds sweetness and depth to the sauce.
  • 2 Cups Ketchup : Forms the base of the sauce.
  • 2 Shots (3 Ounces) Dark Rum : Enhances the smoky flavor.
  • 1/4 Cup Molasses : Brings a rich sweetness.
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar : Balances the acidity.
  • 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar  Provides tanginess.
  • 2 Tablespoons  BBQ Rub-a-dub (or any smoky BBQ rub) : For added depth and spice.
  • 1 Tablespoon  Crushed Red Pepper : For a hint of heat.
  • 1/2 Tablespoon  Cayenne Pepper : Adds extra kick.
  • 1/2 Tablespoon  Sea or Kosher Salt : Balances the flavors.

Instructions
 

  • Combine Ingredients: In a medium-large saucepan, combine all ingredients. Use a whisk to mix thoroughly.
  • Heat the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the ingredients are fully combined and just before the mixture starts to boil.
  • Simmer the Sauce: Reduce the heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 2 hours, stirring every 10–15 minutes to prevent sticking.
  • Cool and Store: Remove from heat and let the sauce cool for 15 minutes. Use immediately, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
